FAQs
Do you offer half hour lessons?
I believe a half an hour can be limiting in achieving our musical goals. The time frame is just too short to settle into the lesson, get comfortable in the space, and to get deep into our musical growth. If there is a necessity for half hour lessons for a specific reason, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate, however my standard lessons time offering is a one hour session per week.
Do you teach instruments other than piano?
Although I am primarily a piano instructor, I have taught students on various instruments in jazz improvisation, music theory, and composition. I welcome students of any instrument for lessons targeted at those specific areas of study.
Am I too young/old to take lessons?
No! I take students of any age, although the range is typically 5 years old and above.
Do I have to come to you, or can you teach me in my home?
I am happy to come to your home for our lessons, however I do charge a different rate for those lessons. My standard rates are based on lessons taught out of my studio on the south side of Lakeport, CA.
Do I need to have a piano at home in order to take lessons?
Access to a piano is absolutely recommended, although a keyboard with weighted keys can certainly work as well. Non-weighted keyboards and other devices can be helpful for composition or music theory study, but not as legitimate tools for piano practice.
What If I don’t know what I want to learn yet?
If you are beginning your musical study and don’t have specific songs or musical styles you would like to learn, that is no problem! We can get started with some basic piano study, music theory study, etc. and you can develop your musical interests along the way!
